Hints for Good Dancing - Students Learn by Example

Bill & Carol Goss

  1. Close the feet when they are supposed to be closed.
  2. Be aware of your arm hold - especially avoid pumping the arms when dancing.
  3. Be aware of body position - especially in semi, banjo, and sidecar.
  4. Walking steps are generally heel leads, running steps are generally toe steps.
  5. Knees should never be locked, but flexed even on toe steps.
  6. Head movements are important - especially be aware of the window and never look at the floor.
  7. Body sway can be important - especially in the higher level classes.
